A driver licence is more than just a permit to drive. It makes it easier to get a job, go to school, Polytech or university, be independent, and stay connected with friends and your community. More than 70% of jobs and up to 85% of entry-level jobs require you to have a driver’s licence.

Narrator: Driver’s licence – how’s that going to help you? Getting to class is key. Bursting in like a whirlwind?
On camera: Student 1 falls over and The Narrator sees them

On camera: We see Student 2 in a bank pulling out her licence . We see a Bank Employee next to the Narrator at a computer.
Narrator: Having a driver’s licence isn’t just about getting from A to B. It’s also proof of who you are. Opening a bank account? Sorted.
On camera: We see Student 3 standing on the side of the road trying to hitch-hike while it’s raining, wearing a hi-vis vest and a tool belt. Student 3 looks disappointed as a car passes him. We see another car drive up to Student 3 to pick him up.
Narrator: Ready to swap homework for full-time work once you’re done with school?
On camera: We see The Narrator sitting in a car talking.
Narrator: Choice. Just one thing. Most entry level jobs require a licence. Come with me. I’ll show you how to level up.
On camera: We see The Narrator driving a car with Student 3 as he explains the steps to getting a learner licence. Student 3 pulls out the New Zealand Road Code book.
Narrator: Level 1: Learner licence. Learn the road code. Pass your theory test. Get those L Plates.
On camera: We see Student 3 now driving the car with The Narrator explaining the steps to getting a restricted licence. They fist bump.
Narrator: Level 2: Restricted licence. Practise driving with an experienced, fully licenced whānau member or mate. Pass your practical test. And then, drive independently within the approved times. Then it’s game on. Options, unlocked.
On camera: We see The Narrator in the back seat of a car with Student 4 and a Whānau Member getting ready to go for a drive. The Whānau Member is in the driver’s seat and Student 4 is in the passenger’s seat.
